CAUTION: Projects In Progress!!

Have you ever had "one of those weeks?" For some reason, it's been like that for me. Even so, I have tried to make time to work on things that must be done...and add in some fun stuff too. I spent the first part of the week doing some volunteering at church and then working on my homemaking binder. The binder is not completed yet but I only have a few more things I need to add. The categories I have in the binder include:
1. Home Planning (calendars, insurance cards, important numbers and dates)

2. Financial Records (budget and upcoming needs, contribution records)

3. Menu Planning (menu calendar for each week, inventory records of my freezer, pantry and larder, as well as shopping list and coupon planning. Favorite recipes/recipes to try)

4. Faith Accountability (my Bible reading schedule, my prayer wheel, my prayer list, missions projects, visitation records, Bible studies and favorite Christian music)

5. Crafts, Hobbies, Gardening and Reading/Book list (projects completed, projects in progress and projects I would like to attempt, DMC floss color chart and checkoff plans and recipes, herbs and their usages, "Books I've Read" list and "Books to Read" list)

A new craft I want to attempt is English Paper-Piecing. My blog friend Sarah-Anne has inspired me by posting a wonderful tutorial on her blog:

I think you will enjoy reading about Sarah-Anne while you are there and that you will be blessed by her, as I have been. Hubby was very kind today and took me to pick out some rather inexpensive fabric to get me started with my plans. Now I am ready to start cutting out my templates!

This evening, after fabric shopping and grocery shopping, I came home and whipped up 3 more batches of homemade detergent. My kitchen smells wonderfully fresh!

I am so thankful that God gives us strength for each new day. Even when things are hard, and relationships are tense, and nothing seems to be falling into place, the Lord is firmly in control...and I should remind myself to simply rest in His promises.

But now, this is what the LORD says......"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned....
For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel.....Your Savior."
~Isaiah 43: 1-3

Thank you Sherry, for your lovely comments! But, even more, your words about God really helped me today. Your encouragement to trust Him and know He is firmly in control is what I've been telling myself all day, but sometimes I just need an extra kick. I know He was speaking to me through your simple, but powerful, words.

I can't wait to see how your project goes on. This weekend I'm going to keep cutting out paper and fabric. Hopefully, by the end, I'll have started at least one more hexagon! Do you have any ideas of what your paper-piecing will be?

Have a blessed weekend, Titus 2 lady :)

Hi Sarah-Anne! Thank you for all the times your words have encouraged me in the faith and helped me to stop and evaluate the things of God in my life. What a blessing to have sisters in Christ...all around the world!
I have no idea what I am going to make with the paper-piecing...although I have to admit to being very ambitious and wanting to make a bed covering! How many hexagons is that? LOL Perhaps I will end up with a placemat or something like a quilted doily at first....but the fun is in the trying and learning...and of course, sharing laughs with friends!

Oh, my, Sherry -- you make me tired just reading about your plans! I am the queen of unfinished projects -- cross-stitch, latch-hook, an afghan, scrap-booking-- just to name a few. Maybe when I retire -- if I still have my brains -- I will finish some project. You go!!

Oh my goodness, Ann, I thought I was the queen of unfinished projects! You have your hands full of 5 year olds all day...and do so many fun things to help them learn and grow. That's your big project for now....the others can wait for another day!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! Miss you!

Sherry, I'd love to see (if you're willing to share) your homemaking binder when you're finished. I keep one myself, but it's not nearly as organized as yours sounds like it is. Enjoy completing your's always a good feeling, isn't it? Oh, and I thank you for the scriptures you shared at the end of your post as well as the encouraging words regarding the Lord's sovereignty. Amen!

Have a blessed Lord's Day,

Lisa :)

Lisa....I would be happy to share some more photos, if you like. I have to admit, its a bit more detailed than any other records I have kept in the past. I have not yet completed each form in the binder...but its my goal to do so. I think it would be helpful to have an account of what is in my freezer, pantry and larder (or household goods, like toothpastes, etc.). I don't have those forms filled out yet but they are still in my binder waiting for me! LOL
Also, I haven't printed off the optimal budget sheets either. I usually keep graph paper with each weeks need on it...a page = approx. a month. I have been looking for something better, but haven't found it yet. So the binder is definitely still a work in progress. I will continue to let you all know how its coming along!
Thank you for stopping by my little blog. It means so much to receive your comments!
Blessings to you and yours...Sherr
